Christ the Teacher Parish and St. Vincent de Paul

The local conference of St. Vincent de Paul has been expanded to include our own Christ the Teacher University Parish, and it is now called the St. Vincent de Paul – Christ the Teacher / St. Mary Conference. There are many ways to get involved with this worldwide Catholic organization committed to alleviating the the suffering of the poor:

  • Work a food pantry shift Tuesdays 3 to 6 p.m.

  • Help unload food trucks, two mornings a month

  • Help stock the pantry shelves

  • Pick up Panera bread donations on Saturday nights

  • Join another volunteer in a home visit

  • Monitor the help line

  • Help with fundraisers

  • Help with the clothing drive in April

  • Help at the SDVP Clothing, Furniture, and Toy Store

In 2006, St. Vincent de Paul in DeKalb provided over $15,000 in emergency financial assistance, free clothing, and referral assistance to 123 clients based on visits to their homes.

If you can help, please contact Maria Alderson or at the Newman Catholic Student Center, 1-815-787-7770, ext. 290. Or call the Society of St. Vincent directly at St. Mary Church, 815-758-5432, ext. 290.

Extend mercy towards others, so that there can be no one in need whom you meet without helping.
